There are no special methods of making fruit wines, as it follows the same process as grape wines. Fruit wines have several types, as they are very versatile and suitable to accommodate consumers’ varying tastes.

 There are six popular types of fruit wines: the low alcohol content (2–7% v/v) also known as cider; the dry fruit wines of higher alcoholic content, usually 8.5–13.5% v/v alcohol; the sweet fruit wines usually manufactured of berry fruits of varying alcoholic content; the cryo-extracted fruit wines that are considered premium products; the fortified or “port-style” fruit wines that can have up to 24% v/v alcohol; and finally, the sparkling fruit wines of Charmat or Champenoise style, where carbon dioxide is injected to create the sparkling effect (Rivard, 2009).

Cider-style wines are commonly made of apple and pear fruits. Often apple is used as a base and then is blended with other fruits to create different flavors such as berry fruits, for example, strawberries or blackcurrant, or citrus fruits like lemon, lime, or orange. These wines are highly diluted to achieve a lower alcoholic content. They are produced in large volumes due to high popularity, especially in Western and Central Europe; they are also not highly taxed, resulting in low prices and high consumption (Rivard, 2009). Such as raspberries or currants, with an RS content higher than 40 g/L, while the total acidity is above 7–8 g/L (Rivard, 2009).

It is important to note that winemaking requires some expatriates; you can’t make good quality wines without mastering the art of winemaking.
