How to make a simple wine tasting with your friends

Everybody loves to have friends over for drinks. It can be fun to try something new or just enjoy your favorite beer, wine, cocktails, etc. But what if you wanted to do more than that? What if you wanted to learn about what you were drinking and create a tasting experience with your friends? You don’t need much in order to make it happen! All you need is some good food (charcuterie plate), glasses (which can easily be found at any store), and of course Schnebly’s wine for tasting! Get ready because today we’re going to tell you how easy it is.

Gather your friends and have them bring a bottle of Schnebly’s  fruit wine collection (H2)

Wine tastings are the perfect way to learn more about the different types of wine available. Not only that, but they’re also a lot of fun! If you want to have a private wine tasting with your closest friends then we suggest a  few things to get you started.

First, have your friends come over with bottles of our fruit wines! We would suggest white wines for the tasting – each guest can bring a different bottle. It’s more fun that way since it provides variety and there is plenty of Schnebly’s wine to go around.

Wine enthusiasts are usually trying to find that next prize-winning wine, but not all wines are created equal. Since our wines are affordable, you can have a variety of different bottles for your tasting.

Miami beach is our suggestion (H3)

We all know how amazing the sunset can be at Miami beach, why not use this as your wine tasting backdrop? Not only will it be beautiful, but the sound of waves crashing in the background will make the experience even more special.

Set up tasting glasses for everyone to use (H2)

Imagine you are at a wine bar, what would be the next step? Make sure you have all the necessary tools so you and your friends can enjoy your time. All you need is some glasses!

We suggest using wine glasses for the tasting – they can be found at any store. If you don’t have any, no worries! You can also use any other type of glass, but make sure it’s clean.

Now that you have your glasses, it’s time to set up the tasting area. Place the glasses on a table or counter and make sure there is enough space for everyone to sit around.

Use a white sheet of paper to label each wine with its name, grape type, country of origin, and year (H2)

Now that you have the essentials, it’s time to start the tasting! But how will you know what wine is what? This is where labeling comes to the rescue.

Grab a white sheet of paper and make sure it’s big enough to fit the names of all the wines and other details. This is not as hard as it sounds, you can do this before your friends come over! Then, list out the glasses in a way that everyone will be able to quickly identify their wine. Finally, write down what the wine is made from and where it was created.

If you have ever been on a wine tasting you should know there is always a guide telling this information. That’s one of the reasons wine tasters do this! If you’re not following a guide, list down information about where it comes from and what it contains so your friends can learn something too.

Pour the wine into the first glass and have each person take a sip (H2)

Free tastings at any tasting room, especially when guided by an expert, will give you a hint at what wine is in the glass. But when you’re having your own tasting with friends, there’s no need to guess!

Glass out all the wines and then pour each one into their corresponding glasses. Do not rush,  make sure everyone gets a chance to take a sip. While the wine is being poured, make sure there’s enough space on the table or counter to put down your glasses in between sips.

Taste the wines one by one in order from lightest to darkest (H3)

Remember to always go from light to dark! When you’re tasting wine it’s important to give your taste buds a moment to register what is going on.

At first, your tongue might not be able to process what you are drinking, but as time passes it will adapt and allow you to differentiate flavors more easily. Also, make sure the glasses aren’t filled too much, you want to take a sip and not fill yourself up!

Have them write down what they think about it (H2)

Have your friends write down their thoughts about the wine. This will help you remember what each wine tastes like and you can refer back to it later on.

What did they think of the color? The smell? The taste? How does it compare to other wines they’ve tried? All of this information is valuable, so make sure to write in a deeper dive way what you felt about the wine.

Discuss what was liked and disliked about the wines tasted (H2)

Now that everyone has had a chance to taste all the wines, it’s time for some discussion! This is where you get to hear your friends’ thoughts and compare them to your own.

What did they like about the wine? What didn’t they like? Is there a wine that they want more information about? Make sure to take note of all of this information so you can remember for the next time you have a wine tasting.

If there are any wines that your friends want to learn more about, make a note to research them later on! Wine tastings can be a great opportunity to learn about new wines.

You can also try using different foods with the wines – cheese is always a good option! (H2)

As in a wine bar,  cheese is a perfect partner to wine and can really bring out the flavors. Have some cheese on hand to nibble on while you are wine tasting!

Not only will this help cleanse your palate, but it will also give you something to talk about. What kind of cheese goes well with which wine? This is something that everyone can have an opinion on and it’s always a fun conversation starter.

Do you want to increase your level a bit? (H2)
